My Italian Spring Break: Milan

Sora and I began our Italian adventure in Milan--arriving early on Thursday morning. We were leaving for Venice in the evening, so the day was free for exploration.

Musical Metro steps at the Duomo... note Sora's huge backpack!

Our first stop in Milan was the Duomo (Cathedral). Sora and I have seen our fair share of cathedrals, but this one's Gothic outline was very impressive.

Milan Duomo.

The Piazza del Duomo was a very happenin' place. We spied on Asian wedding pictures with pigeons and admired very fashion-forward Italians.

Right next to the Duomo is a Milan highlight, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. It is a beautiful, multi-storied glass-domed arcade that features chic litte eateries and high fashion boutiques.

Looking into the Galleria.

Inside the Galleria (I spy Louis Vouitton!)

After the Galleria, we decided to do as the Milanos do and hit the shops! EVERYTHING was out of our price range so we just stuck to window shopping instead. Rick listed some particularly fancy streets, and we added these place to our growing list of "places to go when we have money"!

A stylish street for a stylish city!

We quickly became exhausted from our window shopping, early morning travels, and lugging our backpacks around. The cure: gelato and people watching :)

Prime people watching!

That evening, we said "ciao!" to Milan and hopped on a train headed to Venice.
